Causes of cancer

Cancer is one of the very common life threatening diseases; malignant neoplasm has different causes that change according to the type of the malignant tumor sometimes although some cause may cause different types of tumors. Below you will find some causes that are proven to cause malignant neoplasms or cancer tumors.

the first thing you need to know is that the cancer starts because of an abnormal change in the genetic code of certain cells so, consequently any risk factor that can change the genetic code of the cell could be a direct cause for cancer.

The first cause on the list is that naturally occurred mutations. Normally, there are some errors that occur in the DNA strands while replication but the body have its own methods to amend these errors like apoptosis for example, where the DNA tends to amend itself during replication but these methods could fail in some cases leading the mutation to occur and induce cancer in some cases.

Chemical mutation is one of the prominent causes of cancer where the person who is exposed to some substances and radiation may develop cancer cells like for example the exposure to the ultraviolet rays for long time which may cause the development of melanoma or other malignant forms of tumors. Radon gas is another chemical cause for development of cancer. Non ionized microwaves may also contribute in cancer development but it is not proven, yet, doctors advice people not to expose for such radiation for a long time. Mobile phone radiation is one of the popular examples for these waves.

Although it is not a large percentage but viral and bacterial infection is responsible for development of some types of cancer. Some viruses can cause the cells to start multiplying in an uncontrolled way like hepatitis B and C types which cause liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. This causative agent is very popular in birds as well as in man.

Disturbed hormonal balance is another causative agent on the list as it helps the cells to act in an abnormal behavior and affect the division and multiplication of body cells.

Immune – suppressive diseases are among the prominent causes too because in most cases of AIDS and HIV, cancer developed in these patients because of the very weak immune system that cannot combat any malignant cell.
At the end, we cannot neglect the hereditary cause as one of the causes of malignant neoplasms.
